Rams Gate

Ram's Gate sits at the Carneros gateway on Arnold Drive, the first serious winery you reach coming up from the bay, and the architecture makes an immediate case for itself. It is one of the more photographed estates in Sonoma for good reason.

The focus is Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, which is exactly right for Carneros fog and cool nights, with Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon alongside and an Estate Collection at the top. Events run through the year, including sunset soirees with seasonal food and live music. Michael scores ambiance and staff at 8 apiece, and the hospitality here is genuinely a strength rather than a formality. Appointments required. An excellent opening or closing stop on a southern Sonoma route.
