Michael Mondavi Family Winery

Michael Mondavi's family have been central to Napa Valley since 1966, when the conviction formed that the region had the soil, climate, varieties and knowledge to make wines belonging in the company of the world's great bottles. This estate is the continuation of that.

The range is built around three labels. M by Michael Mondavi is his personal signature wine. Animo takes its name from the Italian for soul, reflecting the family's view that only certain vineyards possess that quality. Emblem is the third, alongside library and large format releases. Fruit comes from the Oso and Animo vineyards. Michael scores it a level 7 throughout. Appointments required. A useful stop for anyone tracing the Mondavi story across a Napa itinerary that also includes Charles Krug.
