Ledson

Ledson is known throughout Sonoma Valley simply as the Castle, and Michael's one-word note on it is exactly that. The building is a landmark on the Kenwood stretch of Highway 12 and the ambiance score of 9 is the highest category mark it receives.

The estate is family owned and the wines have collected substantial accolades, focusing on Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Zinfandel and Petit Verdot among others. Tasting formats run from Classic through Seated to Private, and there is a marketplace and accommodation on the property. Michael's staff score of 5 is worth noting: this is a busy destination winery and service can feel stretched. Book a seated or private tasting rather than the classic pour if you want a proper experience on a Sonoma Valley route.
