Chateau St. Jean has been making elegant, site-specific wines in Kenwood since 1973, more than fifty years of focusing on Sonoma's better vineyards rather than blending for volume. The French-inspired architecture and estate grounds are a large part of why Michael scores the ambiance an 8.
The production is small-batch and single-source, with Pinot Noir, Rose and sparkling among the current offerings. Open daily from 10am to 5pm at 8555 Sonoma Highway, with an events calendar, wedding hosting and private event options. The staff score of 6 is the weakest link, so set expectations there. Still one of the more reliable open-daily anchors for a central Sonoma day, and easy to combine with Kenwood neighbours.
