A. Rafenelli

A. Rafanelli is a Dry Creek Valley family tradition, working from West Dry Creek Road in Healdsburg on a short list of wines it has been refining for decades rather than a sprawling portfolio.

Zinfandel is the signature, described in the current release as lush waves of sun-ripened cranberry, raspberry and bright red cherry, which is Dry Creek Zinfandel doing exactly what the appellation is known for. Alongside it sit a concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon, a Merlot layered with red plum and blackberry, the Terrace Select, and an Estate Blend of 60 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 30 percent Merlot and 10 percent Petit Verdot. Michael scores wine and staff at 7 apiece. Visits are by appointment on 707-433-1385, and the A. List gives members first priority on the limited releases.
